What is MTG, anyway?
March 30th, 2010 by admin
Magic: the Gathering, known as MTG, is a card game fashioned in the collectible trading card game genre, which has become increasingly popular since the early 1990′s. The players use their personal collections of MTG cards, pitting their wizards, creatures and spells against those of their opponent(s) in epic battles.
While MTG is reminiscent of its forerunners, fantasy games such as the ever-popular Dungeons and Dragons, this game is far more involved and challenging, having complex rules and a huge variety of characters and magic spells available.
If you want to start playing Magic the Gathering, you would begin to build your “deck” by purchasing an Intro Pack. Then you will continue to purchase “booster packs” until you reach the minimum of 60 cards in your deck. The game may be played with 2 or more players, both in person and also in an online version, called MTGO, which is becoming increasingly popular.
