Types of aerator
April 2nd, 2010 by admin
One type of wine aerators is attached to the bottle of wine, and poured directly into the glass. This style come in a variety of pouring spouts shapes, from what might look like a standard pouring spout to a bulb shape with an opening for pouring. The object behind the spout is to widen the pouring pattern, which adds more air, while pouring. There is also an aerator that attaches to bottle and has a wire whip at the pouring end. In this case the wine flows over the wire whip, thus adding oxygen to the wine. The next type is for holding over the glass or decanter and pouring the wine through the wine aerators. The shapes are from a funnel shape with one chamber, to a wine flute shape with two chambers. This type may come with or without a stand, for in between pouring. Again the idea is to add oxygen to the wine.
